Last month we had our special Western Piano Recital! It came and went by so fast, but what a time we had!
The students spent so much time working on their pieces in the midst of their regular lessons and practice. We went through a lot of gummy bears here at OMC during the week before the performance. (Those of you who attended will know what a life saver gummy bears can be.) 🙂
I was so pleased with the recital for several reason:
- Everyone performed that was planning on being in the recital (miracles!).
- Everyone made it through their pieces. No major hiccups. (Again, miracles!)
- Everyone had a good time, parents and guests alike.
When the recital was in the planning stages, I wanted it to be something fun, cool, informal, and unique. I started out writing a cute little story for the students to play along with, and we ended up producing a silent movie! Wow, what an undertaking! I wasn’t really sure if we could pull it off or not. The kids were great though, and the parents were super-supportive. The movie turned out really cute, and the live showing at the recital was a hoot and a holler. You can watch it here.
I think it will be a long time before anyone forgets this recital. Parents, if you have not yet picked up your video copy of the recital, be sure to contact us and arrange to pick it up. You’ll want to hang on to this one.
